Tiled floors with beautiful tile patterns are a feature in this stunning timber-frame home. The great room is beautifully tiled in 3 tile hopscotch pattern. We chose different patterns for the hallway, kitchen and dining room. The house has in-floor hydronic heating which is the main reason for choosing tile over hardwood flooring. The hot water pex lines are stapled to the sub floor and covered with a 2 inch layer of concrete. The concrete together with the tiles create a good heat sink. The house has southern exposure and on sunny winter days the floor soaks up the heat from the sun and stores it to support the heating system.
